Fat Burning Foods

When you are struggling to lose weight,  you want to make sure you eat the proper foods that can burn fat most efficiently.   Here is a list of some of the best fat burning foods that you should include in your diet.   These foods will help break down fatty deposits and make it easier for your body to flush out the fat.

  1. Asparagus  – contains the chemical asparagine, which is an alkaloid that stimulates the kidneys and improve the circulatory process.   Thus, asparagines helps break down oxalic acid as that is what bonds  fat to cells.  Breaking down this acid helps  reduce fat levels.
  2. Beets  – a strong diuretic that focuses on the liver and kidneys.  Beets help for cleansing blood corpuscles and wash out the fatty deposits.   Beets also contain a chlorine that stimulates the lymph, which helps flush out fatty deposits.
  3. Brussel sprouts – stimulates the pancreas, which releases hormones that will have a cleansing effect on cells.  Brussel sprouts also contain minerals that stimulate the kidneys so that waste is released quicker.
  4. Cabbage – this is a great food if you have a pot belly or middle age spread on your waistline as it helps break up fat in this area.  Cabbage contains sulphur and iodine, which helps to cleanse the gastric intestinal mucus membrane of the stomach and intestines and helps break up fat.
  5. Carrots  – carrots contain carotene, a form of Vitamin A.   Carotene  produces a reaction in your cells to help flush out fat in your body.  In addition, carotene gets transformed into vitamin A in your intestines which in turn will help speed up your metabolism.
  6. Celery  – raw celery has a high concentration of calcium which helps spark your endocrine system.     Thus, it will help break up fat and clean out your sytem.    Celery also has a high level of magnesium and iron, which is beneficial.
  7. Cucumbers  – contains sulfur and silicon content that stimulate the kidneys to wash up uric acid and loosens fat from cells.
  8. Garlic  – a natural diuretic that contains mustard oils that create a cleansing action in the body.  They promote a vigorous action of peristalsis, which is a muscular contraction, and this helps breakdown clumps of fat and helps wash it out.
  9. Horseradish  – it has an amazing effect of dissolving fat in cells (no side effects) and also as a cleansing effect on the body.
  10. Lettuce  – contains iron and magnesium, which enters your spleen to boost your immunity and protects the body from illness.  Lettuce also helps with metabolism and washes out fat cells.
  11. Radishes  – contains high levels of iron and magnesium, which scrub the mucous membrane of the body and helps to dissolve fat in the cells.
  12. Tomatoes – are high in vitamin C and contain citricmalic-oxalic acids.  This acid will accelerate metabolism and help the kidneys filter out large quantities of fatty deposits, flushing it from  your system.

Freezing Fat

The Truth About  Freezing Body Fat

Fat is known to have two main purposes, says Susan Fried, PhD, director of the Boston Obesity and Nutrition Research Center at Boston University and a long-time researcher in the field.

  • Fat stores excess calories in a safe way so you can mobilize the fat stores when you're hungry.
  • Fat releases hormones that control metabolism.

That is just the general terminology as there is much more details about fat such as the various types;  brown white, subcutaneous ,  and visceral, fat.

Facts About Brown Fat

There is a lot of articles lately about brown fat as it has been discovered it has a very important factor.

Scientists have recently did a study and found that people who are lean have more brown fat than overweight people.   And they found when you stimulate brown fat, it will burn calories.    Thus, there is potential that scientists may be able to figure out a way to increase brown fat in overweight people along with stimulating the brown fat in order to help losing weight.

Overweight people have found to have greater amount of white fat cells then brown fat cells, while lean adults have more brown fat cells then white fat cells.    "Fat is one of the most fascinating organs out there," says Aaron Cypess, MD, PhD, an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School

"A 150-pound person might have 20 or 30 pounds of fat," Cypess says. "They are only going to have 2 or 3 ounces of brown fat."

But that 2 ounces, he says, if maximally stimulated, could burn off 300 to 500 calories a day -- enough to lose up to a pound in a week.

Brown fat, when activated generates heat to burn calories, thus helping to burn white fat.   In fact, when fully activated, brown fat can generate up to 300 times more heat than other tissues in your body.

Burning off white fat is essential for not only being leaner but reducing higher risks of metabolic disease.  Too much white fat, especially around the middle increases a higher risk of heart disease, and diabetes.

Lean people have more brown fat look healthier and more youthful as brown fat is more firm and dense.

White Fat

There is more white fat than brown fat, experts agree.  The purpose of white fat is for storing energy and producing hormones that are then secreted into the bloodstream.

Subcutaneous Fat

The fat found directly under your skin is called subcutaneous fat.   When you are measured with skin-fold calipers that measures your subcutaneous fat in order to give you an estimate of your total body fat.

In terms of overall health, subcutaneous fat in the thighs and buttocks, for instance, may not be as bad and may have some potential benefits, says Cypess. "It may not cause as many problems" as other types of fat, specifically the deeper, visceral fat, he says.

However, subcutaneous fat cells on the belly may be a problem. There's new evidence that having a big belly is dangerous as it not only has subcutaneous fat, but deep visceral fat as well.

Visceral Fat

Visceral  fat  is found around your inner organs and a lot of it is unhealthy.   If you have a large belly that is deep visceral fat.   This fat can increase your chances of diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Belly fat  is what most people know as an unhealthy fat. "Understand that belly fat is both visceral and subcutaneous," says Kristen Gill Hairston, MD, MPH, an assistant professor of medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C. "We don't have a perfect way yet to determine which [of belly fat] is subcutaneous or visceral, except by CT scan, but that's not cost-effective."

It is found that putting an ice-pack to a fatty area like your stomach for 30 minutes can help turn white fat into calorie burning brown fat.   Thus, the brown fat generates heat and helps burn calories.

There is a safe medical treatment certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that helps kill fat cells in the body.  It is called “The CoolSculpting”  and costs an average of  between $2,000 and $4,000 per session.  The cost varies depending on the part of the body being treated.   The larger the area being treated the higher the cost.   The Coolsculpting procedure involved freezing and killing fat cells for the area of the body treated.  In about a few weeks of treatment, the dead fat cells break down and will be  flushed out of the body by the liver.

There are less expensive treatments, although not as effective as Coolsculpting.  Yet, if you are looking to help destroy fat cells these two Amazon products are effective.

Perhaps you have seen all the hoopla in recent months, about the Ultra Fast Keto Boost.   They claim it is the best weight loss supplement on the market, as it only contains natural ingredients, such as BHP, Hydroxycitric acid, Lemon and Green Tea extract.

It seems that the weight loss supplement field has emerged with companies trying to reap huge profits off consumers in their desire to lose weight.

They all claim to be the best and will say anything to get consumers to buy their products.  In the end the consumer ends up with a product not delivering as promised.

The company uses the same name as the product itself…Ultra Fast Keto Boost.  You cannot purchase this in any retail store, as it only sells it online.

Protein Desert

Here is a simple recipe to make a delicious high protein chocolate mousse.

Put in blender:

1 cup of low-fat cottage cheese

1 cup of Whey Protein powder (chocolate).

1/4 cup skim milk

(Option: 1-2 pk of Stevia or sweetener of your choice)

Now blend ingredients together until smooth.

Even if you are not fond of cottage cheese you won’t taste it as it blends together like a creamy chocolate mouse.

You will have over 30 grams of protein with very low fat and low carbs.

Calorie Calculator

Here is a simple way to determine your calories you burn each day. This is just an estimate, and if you wish to get an exact measure of the calories you burn each day, you can get one of the many devices available that can measure calorie expenditure and activities.

TDEE Calculator provided by calculators.tech

What is TDEE?

The amount of energy you eat each day in calories is TDEE, the total daily energy expenditure. TDEE is best calculated on the basis of your BMR or basal metabolic rate and level of activity. BMR is the calories you burn at rest every day.

Your total daily energy includes all the energy you use when sleeping, working and even eating. If you are trying to get the right diet for bulking or cutting, it is important to know your TDEE.

Your TDEE is often called the calorie maintenance level of your fitness products. This is the quantity of calories you need every day to keep your weight. If you know your total daily energy expenditure, you can either add calories for bulk per day or reduce fat calories.

How To Burn Belly Fat Naturally

Many people believe the best way to burn belly fat is doing situps, or extreme cardio, or drastic dieting.   And even some who believe there is a magic fat burning pill.

I will tell that these are not the ways to burn belly fat.

I am here to dispel the myth and let you know there are 8 best ways to burn belly fat.

It is not a magic quick fix formula, but if you follow these 8 steps and stick to it, you will be able to shed that fat around your middle.

Eat more protein.  The average american’s daily intake of protein is around 55-75 grams per day.  Protein helps build muscle which can burn fat and it is recommended to up the protein level to .8 – .9 grams per pound.  So a 180 pound person should be taking between 144 – 162 grams of protein per day.  Good source of protein are eggs, fish, and cottage cheese.  A good way to meet the protein requirement is to have a whey protein shake each day.

Strength training.  This is vital when taking in extra protein.  You need to build muscle mass, which helps prevent muscle loss and fat loss when losing weight..   And you don’t have to lift heavy weights.   You need to do some resistance training with moderate exercises for your back, chest, shoulders, arms, and especially the legs.  Doing squats will strengthen your core and tend to lower your waist size.  You only need about 30-40 minutes per workout for 3 times a week.

Stop doing crunches.  These help strengthen your stomach muscles, but they are not going to burn belly fat as there is no such thing as spot reduction.

Limit your consumption of alcohol.  A drink once in a while is okay, but don’t be slamming down a 4 or 5 beers when you drink.   If you notice a lot of beer drinkers have a lot of belly fat, especially when you age.   Alcohol stresses the liver which makes it difficult for your body to clear out toxins.

Eat healthy fat.  The low-fat diet is a myth as eating the healthy fat actually helps with fat loss. But make sure it is not saturated fat like margarine,  but rather the non-saturated fats  such as:  olive oil, almonds, flax seed, and avocados.  It is recommended to take a fish oil each day as this is a great source of fat to help burn belly fat.   Fish oil helps to increase testosterone levels as well.     Check out Carlson Fish Oil which has 1600 mg omega-3 per tbsp.

Limit the carbs.  I know many people are doing those diets that drastically cuts carbs.  However, carbs provide energy and  eating too few carbs (under 100 grams a day) could possibly impact your memory, according to the Institute of Medicine per the USDA.  The average person’s diet is around 250-350 carbs per day, which is way to high as your body will stock extra carbs which will result in belly fat.  It is recommended to reduce your carbs to around 150-175 carbs per day.  In addition, make sure they are good complex carbs and not the simple carbs, like potato chips, white bread, and white rice.   Some great complex carbs are:  sweet potatoes, watermelon, avocados, beans, oats, whole grain pastas, and quinoa.

Be active. You don’t need to do heavy cardio or run 5 miles a day, but I would recommend some activity like walking  or riding a bike 3 -4 times a week.

Eat often.  If you are constantly hungry you are not eating enough.  It is better to eat every 3 or 4 hours with healthy meals and snacks.  Eating healthy foods 90% of the time is a great way to burn belly fat.  I like to eat a protein bar as one of my snacks each day.  Be sure you get a good protein bar that is low in sugar.  Here is one I recommend.   Also, you don’t have to stop eating  junk foods either.  You can eat your pizza and ice cream about 10% of the time.  So if you are eating 6 meals per day, you can eat some junk food several times a week.  Just don’t overdue it.

Keto Diet Review

The keto diet is popular right now and basically involves eating primarily a lot of fat with a limited amounts of proteins and almost no carbs at all.   With the Keto diet you are eating less than 50 grams of carbs a day, so of course in the short-term you're losing weight because you're not getting as many calories.  However, I found research studies that shows a lot of the weight people lose initially is water weight.   Sugar stored in your body is bound with H2O so when you start cutting the carbs your body grabs that sugar and release the water.  So  you think you're losing fat but in actuality most of it is water weight.

Plus, this isn't very easy to do as your body needs carbs for energy.  So if you are active at all you will find yourself running out of steam.   Another bad part about the keto diet is that you're basically depriving your body of the high amount of protein in order to build and maintain muscle mass.  And because you're not taking quite enough protein as well as eliminating a lot of carbs you are potentially sacrificing a lot of muscle mass.

A lot of people who have been on Keto initially lost because of the water weight.  However, when they go back to eating more carbs, they put the pounds right back. The bottom line is that it is  a short-term type weight loss plan that has limitations, but definitely not a healthy lifestyle for burning body fat and maintaining muscle mass.
